Computed 2026-10-19 with the OSRM router on OpenStreetMap data, town centre to town centre. free-flow driving time, no traffic

Drive times are free-flow routes computed with the OSRM router on OpenStreetMap data from each starting point to the town centre; real trips take longer with traffic. Time budgets are our rule of thumb for one-way driving: half day up to 60 minutes, full day up to 105, weekend up to 180. A town matches a want only when a sourced fact on its page supports it.

Picked a favorite? Plenty of people who visit a town again and again end up asking what it would take to live there.

Questions about choosing a town

What is the most popular mountain town in North Georgia?

No official ranking exists, so we won't invent one. The towns with the strongest claims are Helen, which the city says became Georgia's third most visited city after its 1969 Bavarian makeover, and Dahlonega, site of the first significant U.S. gold rush with a historic square and eight wineries. Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Clayton and Blairsville each draw visitors for their railway, apples, gorges and mountains.
